The Temple College volleyball team hosted a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, as Dallas College East Lake and Dallas College Richland came calling.
TC vs Dallas College East Lake
The Leopards rallied from behind in the first set against the Blazers to initiate a three-game sweep. Temple’s scores for the win were 27-25, 25-18, and 25-14.
East Lake jumped out to a quick 5-1 advantage and led 21-16 when the pace of the game changed with a 6-1 run to tie the first game at 21-21.
Temple fought off two North Lake game points and scored the final three points to win by the two-point minimum.
The second game was neck-and-neck before the Leopards broke a 13-13 tie with a 12-5 run to snatch the 2-0 lead.
The Leopards jumped out to a five-point lead in the third game and endured an early East Lake rush before TC finished the game on a 10-4 stretch and claimed the sweep.
Temple logged 59 digs, 47 kills, 41 assists and 16 block assists in the contest.
Kourtnee Morgan led TC with 10 kills, Lexi Manning had 11 digs and nine kills, Haley Tucker logged ten digs and six kills, Libby Flores registered 18 assists and seven digs, and McKinley Cole had 15 assists, and Mia Dunaway added eight kills.
Hadley Klock added 22 assists and 12 digs, Hailey Pennison had 10 kills, and Katie Lloyd made 13 digs.
TC vs Dallas College Richmond
The Leopards got a fight from the Richland Thunderducks through the first three games but imposed their will in the final game to down the Thunderducks in four games.
The scores of the match were 25-21, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-9.
With the score tied at 12-12 in the first game, the Leopards were able to take advantage of some Richland errors to finish the first set on a 13-8 clip to claim the opener.
The Thunderducks erased a five-point margin and withstood a TC rally to claim a four-point win and tie the match at 1-1.
Temple busted a 7-7 tie in the third game with an 18-11 homestretch to take a 2-1 lead in the matchup.
The Leopards trailed early in the fourth game but finished the match on a 14-5 run to take the final game.
TC logged 64 digs, 50 kills, 45 assists, and 15 aces.
Payton Koller had 15 kills and eight digs, Shelby Pugh added ten kills and six digs, Libby Flores contributed 23 assists and ten digs, and Pauline Gonzales registered 21 digs and eight aces.
The Leopards (7-9) will host Dallas College Eastfield on Saturday at the Danny Scott Athletic Complex’s Leopards Gymnasium at 1 p.m.
