Temple College, in partnership with the Heart of Texas (HoT) Goodwill of Killeen, is proud to announce the provision of limited Adult Education & Literacy services at the HoT Goodwill campus.

Beginning in spring 2025, interested students from Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton and Temple have another convenient location to attend class.

Temple College AEL provides:

  • High School Equivalency (HSE) instruction to prepare students to pass their GED exam
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) program designed to provide English language learners the skills to attain or improve employability and quality of life
  • Citizenship program to prepare newcomers to the U.S. for the citizenship exam
  • Career Pathways program that offers qualified members of our Central Texas community paid scholarships for certifications in in-demand occupations like Certified Medical Assistants, Residential Electricians, Patient Care Technicians and more.

The programs at Temple College AEL offer flexible scheduling options, including morning and evening classes, to accommodate the busy lives of adult learners. Classes are delivered by experienced Instructors dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment.

Classes are free of charge, and books and materials are provided. Classes meet during convenient daytime and evening hours in person or remotely online (Zoom). Instructors work with students to identify and plan their individual learning goals and provide encouragement throughout the program.

"By equipping adult learners with essential resources and support, we empower them to make meaningful strides toward their personal and professional aspirations while aligning with the local workforce board's plan to strengthen our community’s workforce," said James Skinner, Temple College’s AEL Director.

In addition to academic instruction, the program will offer personalized support services, including academic advising, tutoring and career counseling. These resources are designed to help students navigate their educational journey and prepare for opportunities, whether that means pursuing further education or entering the workforce.

Enrollment at the HoT Goodwill location will initially be limited to multi-level combined HSE & ESL programs in Spring, but can easily be expanded based on student demand. Full services continue to be offered on the Temple College campus and via Zoom, if preferable.

Prospective students can register online via the link below, or attend our enrollment fair from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 22 at the Heart of Texas Goodwill, 4004 E. Stan Schlueter Loop, Killeen, Texas 76542.
