Hello, Everyone! My name is Prof. Brice Olivier! It is a privilege to work with Temple College students, my colleagues, and the communities in our area.
I am a history buff and really love teaching and learning about all types of history. I am a military brat and traveling around the U.S. and Europe during my childhood sparked a true love in all things history related. I have lived in four countries (U.S., United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria), but have lived most of my life in Texas.
I have a Bachelors of Arts in International Studies from Southwestern University, a Masters of Arts in History from Texas State University, and am A.B.D. (All But Dissertation) for my PhD from University of Houston. I taught high school history for six years and have been at Temple College since 2013.
It is my philosophy that education should equip students with the knowledge and skills to thrive personally and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Guided by this principle, I strive to create a history classroom that not only encourages historical inquiry but also fosters essential life skills, such as self-directed learning, critical thinking, connection building, and effective communication. By developing these essential skills, my goal is for students to become well-prepared to succeed in an ever-changing world.
