Financial Assistance for Eligible Dual Credit Students

FINANCIAL AID FOR SWIFT TRANSFER (FAST) PROGRAM

Students enrolling in the Temple College Dual Credit Program and attending a partnering service area school district may have financial assistance available to cover college coursework. The FAST program provides funding to colleges and other public institutions so they can offer dual credit courses to educationally disadvantaged students at no cost to these students.

The Texas Education Code (TEC) defines “educationally disadvantaged” as those students eligible for the national free/reduced-price lunch program. Eligible students will not incur any cost for tuition, fees, or education materials.

Student Eligibility Requirements for FAST Program:
  • Meets the current dual credit enrollment requirements set forth in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and Texas Education Agency rules to enroll in an eligible dual credit course(s).
  • Qualifies for free/reduced-price lunch
  • Has submitted a free/reduced-price lunch form to their school district in the past four years not including the current one.

Students enrolling in a Temple College dual credit course(s) and who meet the FAST Program eligibility requirements will be reported and verified by both the Texas Higher Education Board (THECB) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Upon verification from the State agencies eligible students will be verified to Temple College and when this verification occurs, Temple College will notify area high schools of all eligible FAST program students. The ISD is responsible to reimburse any paid tuition, fees, and/or education materials.
