Temple Symphony Orchestra Concert

The Temple Symphony Orchestra (TSO) kicks off its 31st symphonic season with Harry Potter and the Firebird at Temple College’s Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center Auditorium. The concert takes place on Sunday, November 17 at 2:30 p.m.
Patrons are encouraged to dress in costume or cosplay. Tickets for the general public are $30. Students and children, including Temple College students, may purchase tickets at a discounted price of $15. Temple College faculty and staff may also purchase tickets online at the children’s price in advance. Adult tickets will be $30 at the door.
This family-friendly matinee features John Williams’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Children’s Suite for Orchestra, which brilliantly introduces each section of the orchestra through the Harry Potter musical themes we all recognize and love, such as Hedwig’s Flight, Hogwarts Forever, and Harry’s Wonderous World. Of the Children’s Suite, John Williams said, “My fondest hope is that instrumentalists and listeners alike might share in some of the joy that I have felt in writing music for this delightful story.”
The full program also includes selections from the soundtrack to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as well as a suite from Stravinsky’s magical ballet, The Firebird, which tells the tale of a prince who rescues a princess from an evil sorcerer with the help of a mythical fire bird.
