Artist Talk with Dan Sorenson
Join Temple College Visual Arts for the final opportunity to experience Presence Pending, a solo exhibition of drawings and paintings by Dan Sorenson, MFA. The gallery will be open for its viewing prior to the artist talk, allowing visitors to engage with the work before hearing directly from the artist.
Following the open gallery viewing, Sorenson, an accomplished artist and educator who serves as Department Chair of Performing and Visual Arts at Odessa College, will present an artist talk discussing his figurative, representational, and observational approach to drawing and painting. His work explores human interaction and psychological presence through subtle gesture, posture, and gaze, often resisting fixed narratives in favor of ambiguity and emotional tension.
This event offers students and community members an opportunity to deepen their understanding of contemporary figurative practice, gain insight into Sorenson’s creative process, and reflect on how perception, presence, and human connection shape the experience of viewing art.
