The Certified Nurse program is offered up to three times a year, and each class size is limited to the first 10 students who have completed the registration process.
During this program, you will obtain the skills and knowledge to become a state-certified nurse aide. Nurse aides work in various healthcare facilities such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, community health clinics, and private clinics. Under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse, you will perform basic care functions such as bathing, grooming, feeding patients, assisting nurses with medical equipment, and checking patient vital signs. This course meets for 108 hours of in-person instruction.
Certification/Licensure: Texas Certified Nurse Aides are under the jurisdiction of Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Upon successful completion of the Texas Nurse Aide Training program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to sit for the Texas Certified Nurse Aide state examination.

- Clean background check without any infractions for state certification

- Passing a pre-clinical/externship drug screening test
- Not listed as unemployable on the Nurse Aide Registry (NAR)*
- Temple College is required to check the Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) before enrolling individuals in a training program to ensure that those persons are not listed on the registry as unemployable for a finding of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of resident property.

- At registration, you must make an initial payment on the payment plan, pay in full, or provide proof of funding.
- Incomplete trackers and non-payment will result in being dropped from the program.

5. Register for the Program |
Reminder: You cannot register for the program until all required documents are submitted and approved on CastleBranch. Students who register before completing their trackers will be dropped from the program.

6. Pay for the Program |
Payment is required within 24 hours of registration to secure your spot in the program. Students who do not meet the payment deadline will be removed from the program. Students may reregister when they are ready to make a payment. |

Tuition Waiver |
The Texas State College Tuition Waiver program exempts or waives payment of tuition and fees at state-supported colleges or universities for foster youth currently or formerly in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and for those adopted from DFPS. |
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Provide basic care to residents in long-term care facilities.

The Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG) is a state-funded program designed to assist Texas residents with financial need in covering the costs of higher education at public colleges and universities in Texas. Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. If approved, TPEG will cover 50% of the tuition for eligible WCE programs.
