The Clinical Medical Assistant program is offered twice a year, and each class size is limited to the first 25 students who have completed the registration process.
This program will train you to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). CCMAs work in physicians’ offices or inpatient settings, where they help physicians carry out procedures, care for patients, perform basic lab tests, and administer medications. The course includes 205 hours of classroom instruction and 80 hours at an off-site externship, totaling 285 hours of comprehensive learning. Externships are scheduled from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Students will complete their coursework online asynchronously. Skills Labs will be held in person on select Saturdays from 9am to 2:30pm. Additionally, students will meet with the Clinical/Externships Coordinator on select Saturdays via Microsoft Teams throughout the program.
You will need a computer/laptop and access to the internet for this class.
Certification/Licensure: Upon completion of this program, you will be prepared to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

5. Register for the Program |

6. Pay for the Program |
Payment is required within 24 hours of registration to secure your spot in the program. Students who do not meet the payment deadline will be removed from the program. Students may reregister when they are ready to make a payment. |

Tuition Waiver |
The Texas State College Tuition Waiver program exempts or waives payment of tuition and fees at state-supported colleges or universities for foster youth currently or formerly in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and for those adopted from DFPS. |

The Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG) is a state-funded program designed to assist Texas residents with financial need in covering the costs of higher education at public colleges and universities in Texas. Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. If approved, TPEG will cover 50% of the tuition for eligible WCE programs.
