The EKG Technician program is offered twice a year, and each class size is limited to the first 20 students who have completed the registration process.
EKG technicians perform EKG testing, coordinate Holter monitoring, and conduct stress tests in a hospital, doctor's office, or clinic. This course provides instruction in EKG unit operation and troubleshooting, lead placement using 12-lead EKG, use and understanding of EKG grid paper, recognition of normal and abnormal EKG patterns in all 12 leads, and plotting EKG axis. The course consists of 70 hours of in-person instruction and requires 14 hours of Skills Labs. Students have the option to participate in externships. To attend externships, students must pass a background check and drug screening. Additionally, students must provide documentation of all clinical requirements.
Certification/Licensure: Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate of completion. Additionally, graduates will be qualified for the optional certification examination offered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and Cardiovascular Credential Institute (CCI).

Tuition Waiver |
The Texas State College Tuition Waiver program exempts or waives payment of tuition and fees at state-supported colleges or universities for foster youth currently or formerly in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and for those adopted from DFPS. |

The Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG) is a state-funded program designed to assist Texas residents with financial need in covering the costs of higher education at public colleges and universities in Texas. Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. If approved, TPEG will cover 50% of the tuition for eligible WCE programs.
