Temple College Test Tube Talks. Using Reproduction in the Invasive Zebra Mussel to Help Assess Control and Predict Spread with Michael Misamore, PH.D., Texas Christian University

Test Tube Talk - Dr. Michael Misamore

Temple College Test Tube Talks are presented by the Division of Natural Sciences and feature presentations from research and career professionals working in academia and industry. Invited speakers share their research, ideas, and scientific curiosity in an accessible way. These talks are designed for a general audience and offer a great opportunity to learn something new in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

For our February Test Tube Talk, Dr. Michael Misamore (Texas Christian University) will present: “Using Reproduction in the Invasive Zebra Mussel to Help Assess Control and Predict Spread.” Zebra mussels are one of the most damaging aquatic invasive species in North America, and their spread continues to impact water bodies across Texas and beyond. In this talk, Dr. Misamore will discuss how reproductive biology can be used to better understand zebra mussel populations and how this information may help guide management strategies, evaluate control efforts, and improve predictions about where infestations may expand next.

This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Whether you have a background in science or are simply curious, we hope you will join us for an engaging and accessible presentation.
