This program will feature music for concert band reflecting the autumn season. Mysterious and inspirations works by composers Hector Berlioz, John Barnes Chance, Rossano Galante, Julie Giroux, John Philip Sousa, John Williams as well as Temple High School graduate, Jack Wilds. Selections include highlights from Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique as well as from the movie E.T. (The Extra-Terrestrial. This concert will appeal to all ages.
Symphonic band conductor, Glen Alan Brumbach is an Associate Professor of Music at Texas A & M - Central Texas where he teaches conducting, music education classes, administers Senior recital requirements as well as brass methods classes.
He previously served as band director for 34 years in the Boyertown, Reading, Muhlenberg, and Muncy, (Pennsylvania) school districts as well as one year as the Assistant Conductor of the Mansfield University Wind Ensemble. Dr. Brumbach earned his BS and MS degrees in Music and Music Education from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and his PhD in Music Education from the University of Maryland. Dr. Brumbach has previously performed with the Ringgold Band, Reading, PA (est. 1852) and the Dave Stahl Big Band.
The ensemble is comprised of college students from Texas A & M University and Temple College, some local high school students, professional musicians and adults who love playing their instrument.
This 60-member ensemble is dedicated to creating musical excellence while enjoying performing music and camaraderie of playing in a band. Members of the Temple College Symphonic Band are from Temple, Belton, Houston, Harker Heights, Killeen, Copperas Cove, Rogers, Holland, Thorndale, Hewitt, Waco, Salado, Georgetown and Austin.
