The action around the Temple College campus was buzzing this past week, as one Leopards team began conference play, two teams continued their fall schedules, and two squads resumed their training for the winter season.
Here is a look back to last week and a look forward to this week in Temple College athletics.
Bumping around: Volleyball ends week with a Saturday sweep
After a thrilling five-game match against No. 1 Dallas College Eastfield on Sept. 14, the Leopards Volleyball team played three games this past week.
The week began on Monday with a road trip to Wharton County Junior College.
The Leopards took some time to get up to speed, but not in enough time to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Pioneers. The scores of the match were 25-14, 25-18, and 25-20.
TC had 69 attacks, but just 21 kills, led by Jordan Carpenter’s six. Libby Flores had 14 assists and Payton Koller had 11 digs.
Two nights later, the Leopards hosted No. 7 Weatherford College, the two-time defending North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference champions, to start conference play on Wednesday.
The Leopards led late in the first two games and could not make up ground in the third as the Coyotes picked up the sweep. The scores of the match were 25-21, 25-22, and 25-17.
TC had 94 attacks and 32 kills, led by Lexi Manning with ten. Flores had 16 assists and Carpenter added ten digs.
On Saturday, the Leopards hosted Southwestern Christian College to continue NTJCAC play.
TC used 101 attacks, 48 digs, 38 kills, 12 blocks, and 11 service aces in a three-game sweep of the Rams. The scores of the match were 25-21, 25-11, and 25-19.
Thirteen players logged kills, led by Wright with six. McKinley Cole had 19 assists, and Libby Flores added 11. Pauline Gonzales had 14 digs.
This week, the Leopards will take their conference northwestern swing, as they will play at Ranger on Wednesday evening and Cisco on Saturday afternoon.
TC basketball continues training
The men’s and women’s basketball teams are continuing to have intrasquad scrimmages and training.
TC women’s hoops return three players for the 2024-2025 season: Aniyah Lewis, Imani McCray, and Reagan Pavesi.
The TC men’s team has just one returning player: Camren Roper. The Leopards have 17 new players, three that will redshirt. Of the 17, eight of the players are from outside of the United States. Two are from Australia, two from New Zealand, and one each from Canada, England, Ireland, and South Africa.

Softball battles UTSA to 11-11 tie
The Temple College softball team continued fall ball action as they traveled to San Antonio on Friday to take on the UTSA Roadrunners.
The teams played 11-11 tie in 10 innings.
Temple will continue its fall season on Oct. 2 against Baylor at Getterman Stadium in Waco.
TC Leopards baseball plays at JUCO All-Star Showcase
Temple College baseball continued its fall schedule with a two-day appearance at the JUCO All-Star Showcase at Dallas Baptist University and a Saturday afternoon game against Concordia (TX) in Austin.
The program showed well at both sites, as the Leopards work toward the mid part of their fall schedule.
TC will complete their September schedule with a pair of home games against Blinn on Wednesday and Angelina on Friday.
