Temple College PTK Honor Society Hosts Tex-Czech Day Jan. 27

Temple College invites the community to celebrate Tex-Czech Awareness Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27. The event, sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the college's student honor society, will be held in the Arnold Student Union on the Temple College campus.

tex-czech-day.jpgTex-Czech Awareness Day will feature lively polka music, delicious kolaches, and special guests from the Czech Heritage Museum.

This celebration honors the cultural contributions of Texas's vibrant Czech community and offers attendees an engaging opportunity to learn more about this rich heritage.

Activities and displays include:

  • Polka music
  • Kolaches
  • Storytelling & Poetry
  • Dance demonstration
  • The Czech Kitchen will provide cookbooks and paper copies of Czech recipes
  • A display of Czech Kroje (traditional clothing)
  • The Temple Czech Heritage and Genealogy Museum will provide historical items for viewing and will be present to interact will attendees

In addition, PTK will host a Czech Special Collection Initiative booth.

"As part of our project, our long-term goal is to create a Czech special collection in our TC library," said Zara Cruz, PTK's Vice President and Community Service Committee Chair.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to join this unique celebration of culture, history, and fun.
