Welcome

As a student in Temple College's Associate of Arts in Music (A.A.M.) degree program, you will work with faculty who employ traditional and innovative approaches to teaching. Faculty and staff will support and encourage you as you enhance your musical skills and pursue your career.

The Associate of Arts in Music degree transfers to Texas public universities and establishes the basis for teaching certification and musical performance degrees.

Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band meets weekly, one evening rehearsal each week, during spring and fall semesters. Performances are 2-4 times a year.

Symphony Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra rehearses once weekly and performs 2-4 times during the academic year. Players receive a diverse ensemble experience through the preparation of core orchestral masterworks, new music, and regular concerto collaborations featuring guest soloists from the faculty, community, and student body.

Chorale

Chorale is a premiere, auditioned choral ensemble made up of Temple College students, A&M Central Texas students, and community members. It frequently collaborates with the Temple Symphony Orchestra as part of the Temple Symphony Chorus. Chorale meets weekly, one evening rehearsal each week, during spring and fall semesters.

Jazz Ensemble

Opera Workshop

Opera Workshop meets in the fall semester and is an audition-based ensemble. This course serves as an introduction to the opera genre focusing on acting and expression for singers, movement, and staging as well as music and vocal preparation. It culminates with a full opera production or scenes program. There are also opportunities for music and stage directing experience.

Musical Theatre-Vocal Point

Vocal Point is an auditioned fall and spring course that combines acting, singing, and dancing to tell a musical story. This group is also the cast of the TC spring musical performed at the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center. The group collaborates on all aspects of a production, including rehearsals, set design, costumes, live orchestra, and technical elements.

The Music Department offers performance-based scholarships to any student based upon audition. Scholarship award amounts vary based on playing ability, major and number of ensembles for which a student enrolls.


Music Scholarship

Bachelor of Music through TAMU-CT

The Temple College Music Department is proud to partner with the Music Program at Texas A&M University - Central Texas. Through this unique collaboration, Temple College graduates are able to earn their Bachelor of Music degree through TAMU-CT while completing all of their music coursework on the Temple College campus. The two institutions share a music faculty with one another, allowing students a seamless four-year college experience.
