Temple College and the Temple College Foundation congratulate Susan Kamas on her retirement from the workforce industry after 50 years of dedicated service, including 37 years as Executive Director for Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.
“Susan is a faithful friend and alumna of Temple College and currently serves on the Temple College Foundation Board,” said Dana Riegel, Executive Director of the Temple College Foundation. “In that role, she offers sound advice and guidance with her lengthy resume including board leadership, awards, and countless accolades earned while leading with passion to connect people with jobs. She and Workforce Solutions of Central Texas have partnered and supported countless grant proposals to fund education and training to equip our students with careers that will increase their earning potential.”
At her retirement celebration last week, it was estimated that throughout her career, Kamas played a role in helping approximately 500,000 individuals find employment and succeed in the workforce. Temple College students are part of that legacy.
As part of the celebration, Temple College President Dr. Christy Ponce presented Kamas with a Distinguished Alumni Award. In addition, significant donations were made to the Susan and James W. Kamas Endowed Scholarship by the Board of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, Workforce staff in Temple and Rockdale, and the Temple College Foundation.
“Honoring Susan with contributions to her endowed scholarship at Temple College perfectly aligns with her priorities,” said Jose Segarra, Board Chair for Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. “Education and lifelong learning have been her passion throughout her career. It is nice to know her legacy will continue at Temple College.”
Temple College invites the community to join in celebrating Kamas’ legacy by contributing to the Susan and James W. Kamas Endowed Scholarship. Donations will help fund education and training opportunities for students pursuing career success.
